Donut Maker: Yummy Donuts

The most complete donut-making chain in this hub — frying and glazing both matter, not just topping — though it sits close enough to its sibling Sweet Cake Shop that playing both back to back can feel repetitive.

What you'll be doing first

The opening shift walks you through the full chain: drop dough to fry, pull it before it burns, dunk it in glaze, then hand it to the topping station before a customer takes it. It's a longer opening sequence than Donut Maker's in this same hub, because here frying and glazing are actual timed steps rather than a single tap each.

The core loop

Frying has a window — pull too early or too late and the batch is wasted — which gives this game a small skill layer none of the hub's other bakery apps really have. Everything downstream, glazing and topping, follows the same drag-and-drop pattern as Sweet Cake Shop.

Progression and unlocks

New toppings and donut types unlock at a steady clip across the shift list, and — like its sibling game — shop upgrades widen what a single shift can handle as you complete more of them. The unlock pace feels a touch faster here than in Sweet Cake Shop.

Look and feel

Visually it's close to identical to Sweet Cake Shop, sharing the same UI chrome, counter layout and customer sprite style — unsurprising given they're both published by Tap Happy, but it does mean neither game stands out much from the other on looks alone.

How it compares to genre regulars

The frying-timing step is the real differentiator versus every other game in the bakery hub, including its own sibling. If you've already played Sweet Cake Shop and want a version with one more layer of actual technique, this is that version.

Where it drags

Playing this right after Sweet Cake Shop makes the overlap obvious — same shop structure, same upgrade pattern, same customer flow, just wrapped around a donut instead of a cake. The shop can also slow down noticeably once several orders are mid-fry at once.

What we'd change

The tutorial explains the frying window clearly but moves past glazing timing too quickly, leaving new players to work out by trial and error how long a glaze dip should actually take.

What it gets right

  • Frying has a real timing window, giving it more of a skill layer than most of the hub
  • Steady stream of new toppings keeps the shift list from feeling static
  • Pairs naturally with Sweet Cake Shop if you liked that game's shop structure

Where it falls short

  • Close enough to Sweet Cake Shop in structure that the two can feel repetitive played together
  • Noticeable slowdown once several fry orders overlap in a busy shift
  • Tutorial explains frying well but rushes past glaze timing
